Youth injured in accident with police car on ventilator support

The youth injured after the motorbike he was driving collided with a police car has been put on ventilator support after his condition deteriorated.

The accident took place in the early hours of Friday morning at approximately 1:50am in Hulhumale’ Phase II. The injured youth has been identified as an 18-year-old.

In a message to the media, the Police said the accident occurred when a motorbike traveling on Nirolhu Magu at high speed, collided with a police car that was crossing Nirolhu Magu at the intersection with Gulalma Goalhi.

As per the Police, he has been shifted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’ City after being initially treated at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

The Police said the youth is being treated on ventilator support as he is in critical condition.

Photos and videos of the accident obtained by Sun show that both vehicles were damaged in the impact. In this regard, parts of the motorbike have come off and are scattered on the road, while the police car's hood is damaged.
