The body of the four-month-old baby who was found dead in K. Guraidhoo has been sent to India for autopsy on Wednesday.
The infant died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police have previously attributed their decision to conduct an autopsy to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.
Guriadhoo Council member Ibrahim Shaleez previously told Sun that the infant was brought to the island’s health centre at around 12:30am early Saturday morning after being discovered unresponsive. Citing doctors, he said the infant had already been dead when brought to the health centre.
Although the infant had bled from the nose, there were no external injuries visible.
According to Shaleez, there are no suspicions towards the infant's family whom he said were extremely concerned at the moment.
The infant’s body has been sent overseas for autopsy after five days.
