Discussions held on further strengthening tourism between Maldives-China

Discussions have been held on further strengthening tourism development between Maldives and China.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Maldivian Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Yong on Monday.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui and the Chairman of CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee Liu Xiaokai.

The discussions centered on bolstering cooperation in key areas of the blue economy, including environmental protection, ocean conservation, and climate change.

Both sides also explored further strengthening tourism development, higher education, infrastructure development, and high-level exchanges between the two nations.

They concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Maldives-China bilateral ties.

VP Hussain Mohamed Latheef is currently on an official visit to China to attend the ‘Third China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation’.
