President: Three ministries’ operations to proceed at a govt. property

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states the government has no intention of temporarily renting a building for the operations of the three ministries impacted in the fire that broke out at Green Building until a permanent solution is achieved.

The three ministries impacted in the fire were Housing Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry and Environment Ministry.

The operations of all three ministries have been temporarily shifted to Dharubaaruge.

President Muizzu visited Dharubaaruge on Monday to inspect the operation of the ministries and meet their respective staff.

Speaking during the meeting, the President noted that all government authorities were collaboratively undertaking efforts to facilitate a normal working environment at Dharubaaruge.

In this regard, he detailed that efforts were underway to increase restrooms, commence cafeteria services and acquire additional electronics required such as computer systems.

According to the President, the operations of these ministries will be based at a government property until a permanent solution is achieved.

He emphasized that the fire resulted in invaluable damage, including the loss of personal property of some staff. Thus, the President said that the difficulties they are facing are incomprehensible.

Nevertheless, he applauded the positive attitude and patience shown by the staff in these difficult times and the cooperation rendered to recommence the ministries’ services.

During Monday’s visit, President Muizzu met with the task force incepted to oversee the setup of the ministries at Dharubaaruge where he inquired about the latest updates on this front.

Green Building was burned beyond use in the fire which broke out on Thursday.
