President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Male’ on Sunday afternoon after concluding his visit to some islands in ADh. Atoll.

The President’s Office said that the tour is part of President Muizzu’s ongoing program of council consultations, which commenced earlier this year.

During these visits, he met with the people, councils and Women Development Committees of these islands where he held discussions on issues related to the development of the islands and the most pertinent needs of its residents.

He also visited health centers and schools in the islands and observed the situation there.

The President announced several important initiatives while speaking to the residents of Dhangethi. In this regard, he said Women's Development Committee members will receive a Ramadan allowance starting next year.

He also discussed the newly ratified Foreign Currency Bill which he said would benefit the public once enacted by permitting dollar transactions and doubling credit card limits.

The President also said that as soon as the technical work to amend the regulations, which require a certain percentage of the local tourism revenue to be deposited in the councils, is completed, it will be introduced in Parliament so that taxes from tourism can be made directly available to the councils, thereby giving them greater financial autonomy.

He also referenced the recent fire that destroyed three government ministries, adding the administration would continue to overcome its obstacles and challenges and encouraged the affected employees and the people.

While this is the last of a series of visits that the President will embark on this year to meet and interact with all the country's councils – the President also announced plans to visit all the country's islands in 2025.

He was accompanied by a high-level government delegation during the trip.
