Home Minister Ali Ihusan states the government of India will provide MVR 8.5 million in grant assistance for the renovation and maintenance of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City.
He made that remark while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the recruits from the 37th Police Initial Training Course on Monday night.
“Tonight, I am happy to announce that the government of India has decided to provide MVR 8.5 million in grant assistance to renovate and maintain the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, Addu Campus,” he said.
The Minister expressed sincere appreciation to the Indian government for its support, calling it a symbol of the strong bond between the two countries.
He also extended his thanks to Amith Garg, Director of India’s National Police Academy, for accepting the invitation and attending Monday night’s ceremony.
In his remarks, Minister Ihusan also underscored the significant efforts being undertaken to combat drugs. On this note, he detailed that drugs valued at MVR 1.3 billion were intercepted and stopped from entering the society over the course of the past year.
The 37th Police Initial Training Course saw 171 recruits, including 39 female officers, complete their training. Police Constable Hassan Shaamil was named the recipient of the prestigious Commissioner's Excellence Award and Best All-Round Student.
The National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City was developed with the assistance of the Indian government.
