Man found collapsed near Artificial Beach dies in hospital

A man found collapsed on the road near the Artificial Beach in the Henveiru district died on Thursday, shortly after he was rushed to the hospital.

Ahmed Shareef, 53, Sosunge, S. Hithadhoo collapsed on the road at around 08:56 am on Thursday.

He was rushed to the ADK Hospital with the assistance of the police.

A police spokesperson, citing hospital officials, said Ahmed Shareef died while under treatment at around 10:03 am.

A video on social media shows a woman performing CPR on him as he is taken to the hospital on the back of a pickup. There was a police officer and two other men on the back of the vehicle.

The incident comes a day after a 55-year-old man died from head injuries he is believed to have sustained after getting hit by a boat in the waters off Male’.

The police have yet to disclose any further details regarding the case.
