The injured man rescued from the waters off Dharumavantha Hospital in Male’ City on Wednesday afternoon has passed away.
Maldives Police Service confirmed the individual’s demise, and confirmed it was a 55-year-old local male. The authority also confirmed he was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment after rescuing.
Corroborating to IGMH, police said the individual had injuries on his head which authorities believe was caused from a vessel. Police is currently investigating the matter.
The video footage received to ‘Sun’ shows the individual was rescued from the waters off Dharmavantha Hospital, who was hurried on a stretcher to the nearby hospital. Several individuals had gathered to the site and extended their assistance in rescuing the man.
In the video, the injured man is seen with minimal but visible movements.
