Woman arrested in knife-point robbery of Bangladeshi worker

A woman was arrested from Male’ on Wednesday for robbing a Bangladeshi worker at knifepoint.

The police identified the suspect arrested in the case as Fathimath Ali, 37, Ma. Fortune, K. Male’.

According to the police, Fathimath is believed to have been involved in luring the Bangladeshi worker to a home in Galolhu district under false pretenses, where he was threatened with a knife and robbed.

The incident took place at around 10:08 pm on Wednesday.

Fathimath was presented to the Criminal Court for her remand hearing on Thursday. The court remanded her in custody of the police for 15 days.

The police are also looking for Fathimath’s accomplice, who the agency identified as a Maldivian male.

However, the police did not say what was stolen in the robbery.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
