The Nautilus Foundation has opened scholarship opportunities in areas believed to most crucially require capacity building in the Maldives at present.

The Foundation held a press conference on Thursday regarding the scholarships.

As per Nautilus Foundation’s Secretary General Mohamed Khaleel, the scholarships are fully funded.

Scholarships are being offered in four categories:

  • Medical specialization
  • Commercial cookery certificate level 3
  • Mass communication undergraduate degree
  • Aircraft engineering and maintenance program

Khaleel said the scholarship will be awarded to six students this year as well. He detailed that the Foundation always prioritizes fields that most require trained individuals at the moment.

While there are 12 students presently studying under the scholarship, Khaleel detailed that the Foundation closely monitors their progress.

The students will be mandated to work in the Maldives for at least three years after the completion of their studies. Khaleel attributed the requirement to ensure the Maldivian society benefits from locals who are trained for crucial fields.

Application for the scholarship can be submitted via Nautilus Foundation’s website. The deadline to submit applications is November 30th.

The Nautilus Foundation is a charitable organization incepted in memory of late Dr. Ibrahim Umar Manik, a notable figure in the tourism industry with years of service.

The organization is collaboratively run by the shareholders of Plus Hotels and Resorts, Manta Air, Dhaalu Airport, Eagle Marine, Roello Travel, Nova Maldives and Male’ Aerated Water Company (MAWC).
