President meets CPC Central Committee member Wang Yi

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Director of the Office of the Central Commission of Foreign Affairs of China.

The two met on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday.

At the meeting, President Muizzu highlighted the importance the Maldives places on its relationship with China, and discussed ongoing agreements and projects between the two countries. Muizzu also expressed his appreciation for China's support in developing the Maldives tourism sector.

In response, Wang Yi reaffirmed China's commitment to continuing its support for the island nation in all areas of cooperation.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and address shared concerns, in particular, related to climate change and adaptation efforts.

President Muizzu is currently in New York to attend the 79th Session of UNGA, taking place at the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ).
