State Electric Company (STELCO) has warned of possible power outages in some areas of Male’ City and Hulhumale’ on Friday morning, as the company upgrades the Greater Male’ Interconnection Grid Network.
In a statement on Thursday, the state utility company said it plans to carry out scheduled upgrading work on Friday on the Greater male’ Interconnection Grid Network to connect and energize Hulhumale’ Phase II’s 132kV substation.
“…Power interruption may occur in Hulhumale’ and some areas of Male’ on 13th September 2024 between 06:00 am and 07:00 am,” it said.
The company apologized for the inconvenience it may cause.
STELCO said that the 132kV substation has two 50 MVA high-voltage transformers, high voltage switchgear, and medium-voltage outgoing feeders to supply electricity to Hulhumale’ Phase II.
The company said the transformers being installed to resolve power issues facing Hulhumale’ Phase II will improve the quality of power services in the area.
