First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has said that the current government envisions a future where children grow up in a violence-free environment, allowing them to develop into responsible individuals.
She made the remarks while speaking at the launching ceremony of the National Action Plan on Prevention and Response to Violence Against Children.
At the ceremony, the First Lady emphasized on the ensuring the safety, well-being, and future of the children, which is the highest priority of launching and endorsing the plan.
She expressed that the launch of this plan is a “monumental step towards addressing” the reality of violence and abuse against children. She added the plan is a comprehensive strategy and a clear roadmap outlining how to prevent, protect, and response to violence against children.
While expressing her vision for a future where every child grows up in a violence-free environment, the first lady said this would enhance the development of children into responsible, resilient, and confident individuals. She further emphasized achieving this vision requires collective effort of all stakeholders, and noted the importance of raising awareness, creating safe environments, and providing families with knowledge and resources to support and nurture children.
The First Lady also noted that the individuals who have experienced violence require more than protection, and underscored they need support to overcome the trauma, heal, and rediscover and confidence.
Investing in the children’s resilience aims at addressing their needs and laying foundation for a brighter, more secure future for them, Sajidha added.
