The original Center for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) building located in Male’ City reopened on Sunday, following renovations.
The original CHSE building was closed down after opening a new one in Hulhumale’.
But the government decided to reopen the old building this year, in order to cater to a rise in A-level students based in the capital.
The building reopened for classes on Sunday.
Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu said that it will be the best higher secondary education school in the greater Male’ area. He said that it will also be a pleasant learning environment for students.
Back in June, Shafeeu said that there are some 1,700 students based in Male’ studying in Grade 10 this year.
He said numerous students and parents find the lack of a public school for A-level education in Male’ City to be difficult.
Shafeeu said that reopening the old CHSE building will reduce the number of students who commute to Hulhumale’ for classes.
He said the government plans on building a new school for A-level students in Male’ City in the near future.
