President congratulates athletes who achieved success in Asian Surfing Championship

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the local male and female athletes who competed in the Asian Surfing Championship for the tremendous success they achieved in the tournament.

He congratulated the athletes via a post on the social media platform X.

Maldivian surfing athletes achieved top places in the ongoing Asian Surfing Championship, which is held to qualify athletes for the upcoming Asian Games. In this regard, Maldives secured slots for the Asian Games 2026 in male and female surfing categories with both men’s and women’s teams ranking first in the South Asia region. Moreover, the men’s ranked fourth overall in Asia.

The Asian Asian Surfing Championship is being held in K. Thulusdhoo with the participation of 113 athletes from 20 nations.

This marks the second Asian Surfing Championship hosted in the Maldives.
