IGMH reports nurse for drug abuse

The police have launched an investigation into a nurse at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) accused of using drugs.

The nurse was reported to the police by the management of IGMH.

A police spokesperson told Sun on Saturday that the complaint was lodged with the police two weeks back.

The spokesperson confirmed that the case is under investigation by the police.

However, the police have yet to make an arrest.

Drug abuse is one of the biggest social issues facing the Maldives. In 2023, the police received reports of 1,750 drug-related offenses. The number stands above 1,010 so far this year.
