Young woman arrested with drugs from airport

A young woman has been arrested from the Velana International Airport (VIA) for attempting to board a domestic plane with drugs.

The 30-year-old Maldivian woman was arrested from VIA’s Domestic Terminal on Wednesday night. She has been identified as Saha Waheed, Udhares, GDh. Madaveli. 

The authorities searched her and found two rubber packets containing drugs.

Police said the drugs weighed 209 grams, but did not specify the type of drug.

The case is under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Unit.
