Ooredoo marks 19th anniversary by expanding 5G service to 60 percent of Maldives

To commemorate the telecom company’s 19th anniversary, Ooredoo Maldives has expanded its 5G service to 60 percent of Maldives and introduced several new services.

The expansion of 5G service and the brand-new services were announced during a press conference held on Wednesday night.

In this regard, Ooredoo said its 5G service has been made available to 60 percent of Maldives as part of the company’s efforts to digitally link the archipelago. They noted that 100 percent coverage will be achieved under phase three of the project, adding customers will get to enjoy a good-quality 5G network with high speeds and less latency. The 5G service is currently available at 22 islands and five resorts.

Speaking at the press conference, Ooredoo Maldives’ CEO, Managing Director Khalid al-Hamadi reiterated that the telecom company was undertaking all efforts necessary to bring the ever-expanding technological services to the Maldives.

“Thankful for the trust and cooperation rendered by loyal customers. We will undertake efforts to introduce new revolutionary technology even in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, several of the company’s other services have also been expanded alongside the introduction of brand-new services. They include:

Nuzoom: Loyalty program

Ooredoo Maldives’ loyalty program has been designed to allow the participation of all customers. As part of the program, customers can gain points for all transactions made via Ooredoo App and redeem them for various Ooredoo services and third-party offers. The program is aimed at enhancing customer experience. Nuzoom is the universal loyalty program utilized by Ooredoo Group across various countries.

Aachaa SuperNet and Aachaa Fibre: Daily data plans introduced to Fibre broadband

Daily data plans have been introduced to Aachaa Supernet which will pave the way for customers to be linked via broadband and ensure uninterrupted internet service to customers daily. The service was expanded as part of efforts to provide the most comprehensive internet service across the nation.

Postpaid plan via AI postpaid

This marks the first AI postpaid in the Maldives. Artificial intelligence can be utilized via this innovative service to make personalized postpaid plans to meet the requirements of the customer. They include plans with various flexibilities and values.

Hessa Data: Maldives’ largest data allowance

Hessa Data introduces the largest data plan available in the Maldives for both prepaid and postpaid. The offer is aimed at ensuring customers who use a lot of data have unlimited access to the internet for streaming and chatting among other things.

Aachaa Dhan Dhan: Especially for midnight

The plan was introduced for individuals who utilize social media during midnight hours. In this regard, the date allowance extends to a large number of applications and will be available between 1:00am to 5:00am. The plan is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted access to the internet, even at odd hours.

Entertainer: Entertainment to a new step

Entertainer provides a wide range of options for various entertainment applications, such as SonyLiv, and Lionsgate Play’s film pack options in addition to social entertainment packs for Snapchat and TikTok. Entertainer is formulated to meet all entertainment needs via one platform.

Ooredoo Nation: Global faceoff

This is a rocket league competition between Maldives and Qatar teams with a prize pool of USD 1919. The competition slated for August 8th and August 9th will mark Ooredoo nation’s first international competition.
