Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has amended regulations to allow night markets to be held for a maximum duration of 10 days.

Prior to this, permits for night markets were awarded for a maximum period of seven days.

The regulation was amended on Tuesday and publicized in the government gazette which extends the maximum period allowed for night markets to 10 days.

Night markets are held to provide products to the public at a cheaper price and as a platform for small and medium businesses to sell their products.

Such night markets are held in conjunction with Ramadan and holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
