Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer is scheduled to undertake an official visit to China.
The minister will set to depart on Saturday.
The visit is being undertaken in response to an invitation extended by his Chinese counterpart, Minister Wang Yi.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Zameer will hold official talks with his counterpart and meet with senior officials of the Chinese government. He is also scheduled to hold discussions with key Chinese companies that have played a pivotal role in the economic development of the Maldives.
Minister Zameer will be accompanied by Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeg, Construction and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib and other senior government officials during this visit.
The current administration continues to strengthen ties with China. Just last week, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives met with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, where the two discussed avenues to expedite the implementation of issues agreed upon during the President’s state visit to China earlier this year.
