President appeals to establish and sustain a fair government

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has appealed to all authoritative institutions and personnel in the government to work towards establishing and sustaining a fair government in the Maldives.

The President made this appeal while addressing the people of Feydhoo this morning as part of his current trip to Miladhummadulu Atoll.

He said that the purpose of the democracy which has been established in the Maldives is to ensure that people’s needs are fulfilled, and that a fair government is established.

He assured that he would continue to put in every effort to realize the needs of the people, and that a good governance system would be established only when the public’s voice is heard, and their needs met.

The President also assured the people that the government would provide its services to all the people equally, without discrimination, noting that it was an obligation by religion and our legal system.

As part of his visit to the island, the President laid the foundation for the new mosque and the new government school to be built in Feydhoo.
