Man sentenced to 2 months in prison for repeatedly beating mother

Criminal Court on Tuesday, ordered a jail term of two months and 12 days on the convict found guilty of repeatedly beating his mother.

State prosecuted against Ibrahim Ikram, H. Garden Beauty, Male' on charges of domestic abuse.

He was charged with beating his mother and hitting her on both her hands around 14:00hrs on February 24, 2023. The woman was asleep at the time she was assaulted by the convict.

His charges, pressed by the state also said Ikram had beaten his mother on five other days repeatedly.

The convict is also charged with kicking his mother on June 19, 2023, and later on June 19 last year he hit his mother with a 500ml bottle.

Ikram reportedly assaulted his mother again on July 4, 2023 with a two-feet long light.

The convict had confessed to multiple instances of assault against his mother, following which Criminal Court held the charges against him were sufficiently proven.

Aminath Azlifa presided as the judge for the case.
