The main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC)’s parliamentary group donated MVR 200,000 on Wednesday, during the launch of a nationwide telethon campaign to raise funds for Palestinians, as Israeli forces continue its devastating attacks on Gaza.
The telethon, conducted under the slogan “Falastheenaa Eku Dhivehin,” which translates to “Maldivians in Solidarity with Palestine,” was organized by the Public Service Media (PSM), in partnership with local media, including SSTV, at President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s request.
It began at 08:00 am on Wednesday, will continue until midnight.
The PNC’s parliamentary group, composed of 75 lawmakers, donated MVR 200,000 during the telethon.

“The People’s Majlis is the biggest institution that represents the people. Therefore, the PPM-PNC believes we must be the first to respond. We came here after quickly arranging all this,” he said.
He asked for all Maldivians to join in the telethon, and show their concern over the situation.
PNC’s parliamentary group leader, Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah said that all lawmakers from the party responded to the sudden call made for donations.
“God willing, we, the PPM-PNC parliamentary group will remain behind the beloved people of Palestine,” he said.
