The High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka, Masood Imad on Wednesday, has presented his Letter of Credence to the Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Masood presented his credentials to President Wickremesinghe at a ceremony held on Wednesday morning at the Lankan President's House, in Colombo.
At the meeting, the Maldives High Commissioner to Lanka expressed his profound honor on his appointment, and noted he is "deeply aware of the trust and responsbility entrusted to him" by the Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He also reiterated commitment to strengthen the historic and special bond uniting the two countries, and affirmed to work tirelessly to enhance the bilateral relations of Lanka and the Maldives. He emphasized Lanka's position as an invaluable partner in the socioeconomic development in the Maldives, and noted Lanka is a "cherished second home for many Maldivians, including himself."
Besides this, Masood conveyed greetings from President Muizzu, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and the Maldivian people to the President and the people of Sri Lanka.
President Wickremesinghe congratulated Masood on the assumption of his duties as the Maldives High Commissioner to Lanka. He further wished Masood success in his tenure, and assured the High Commissioner of Sri Lankan government's full commitment to enhance the Maldives - Sri Lanka relations.
