State Trading Organization (STO) has made temporary arrangements to transport staple foods from Kulhudhuffushi City to HA. Uligan.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that staple food stocks in Uligamu had completely run out.
STO media official Yoosuf Shah, while speaking with 'Sun' said staple food items will be temporarily delivered from the nothern-most city to Uligan until the island's staple foods are adequately restocked.
Shah also said that staple food stocks in Uligan ran out due to supply disruptions amid bad weather, and affirmed to deliver necessary food commodities at the earliest convenience.
He also confirmed receiving complaints from the island's locals as well.
Uligan island council's Deputy President Asadhulla Mohamed said only one 'ambassador' was tasked with delivering staple foods delivered by STO.
Asadhulla added that locals have complained about the issue to the council authority, with just one formal complaint registered.
Upon contacting the local agent, council was informed staple foods could not be delivered at the time.
After receipt of an official complaint, Uligan council relayed the issue to STO.
