NDMA advises food supply once weather stabilizes

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Saturday, has advised relevant authorities to engage in delivering necessary goods and food commodities to the atolls once weather conditions stabilizes.

NDMA's advisory has followed Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office)'s forecast of stabilizing weather conditions for the next four days.

MET Office spoke with 'Sun', confirming wind speeds have receded while seas are expected to become calmer in the coming days.

NDMA in a post on X said some of the islands across Maldives is currently experiencing food shortages owing to supply disruptions amid worsening weather conditions recently.

The authority, on the basis of MET's forecast of clearer weather, urged relevant authorities to supply food and necessary commodities to the islands in need of them the most from Sunday until Wednesday.

While Maldives is experiencing bad weather conditions nationwide, with strong winds, heavy rainfall and rough seas, there were two deaths in sea reported on Friday alone with multiple other incidents in sea reported recently.
