Wind speed is expected to reach between 34 and 40 miles per hour, gusts are expected to reach 60 miles per hour with rough seas.

The orange alert is the third highest in the severity levels for weather. Last time MET Office issued an orange alert on May 13th, 2024.

Additionally, the authority issues a yellow alert effective from Baa atoll to Addu City, which is a cautionary alert for potential dangers owing to bad weathers - making it the second highest alert level.

Weather conditions worsen significantly from May until July each year. Due to the worsening conditions, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has cautioned the public to take safety measures.

The authority has advised to bolster roofs more securely if the residents suspect possibility of it ripping off. It also advised seafarers to take caution ahead of trips.
