Mango prices drop with strong supply

Supply of mango in the Maldives consumer market has gone up, reflecting a lower selling rate.

Moreover, mango is currently the most abundant fruit commodity in the local market as well, with the item sold for MVR 50 per kilogram on average.

Some of the vendors who spoke with 'Sun' said the current period coincides with mango season, reflecting on the abundant availability. Majority of the local mango produce are imported from Fuvahmulah and Huvadhoo atoll.

The vendors further highlight mango supply improved since last week.
