City Council fines construction workers for regulation breach

Male' City Council has fined construction workers for breaching safety regulations.

The council said on X on Saturday, that it had intervened and fined a group of building workers for the lack of safety measures. The workers were fined with MVR 500, an official of the council confirmed.

City Council further urged from construction workers and contractors to take necessary safety measures at the work place.

Besides fining the workers, the council had shared a video clip of the construction site with the alleged offenders as well.

Contractors pushing labourers to work without safety measures is a rampant issue, that has led to some instances of severe incidents including the loss of life as well.
