Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has instructed candidates to remove campaign posters put up in Hulhumale’ for the recent parliamentary elections.

A lot of candidates had put up campaign banners and canvases in the opportunity provided by HDC to put up campaign posters in Hulhumale’, a decision which the corporation said was motivated by the desire to provide equal opportunities for all candidates.

Many of the banners and canvases remain in place, more than a week after the elections.

HDC said on Tuesday that though it opened the opportunity to put up campaign banners and canvases in conjunction with general elections, it is an inconvenience to the people who use the streets.

“Therefore, this corporation asks that you remove the campaign banners and canvases for the Majlis elections within the one-week period starting today,” said the HDC in an announcement.
