Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, has been once again appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, the current administration appointed Fahmy as the State Minister of the Foreign Affairs Ministry on November 20th, 2023, but was removed from the position just four days after amid criticism about his appointment.

A senior government official confirmed Fahmy's re-appointment to 'Sun', but did not disclose what designation he was appointed to this time.

In response to criticisms directed over prompt dismissal of top government officials, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu earlier said those appointments lacked due diligence, which had been clerical errors.

Previously, Fahmy was a member of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) but was sacked from the post following sexual harassment allegations.

Supreme Court in 2013 however, held Fahmy's dismissal was unlawful.

Additionally, he was the Maldivian Ambassador in Malaysia during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's presidency.
