The Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) forecasts bad weather conditions for the upcoming two weeks.

Speaking with 'Sun', a MET Office official noted the authority forecasts consistent rainfall across Maldives from the April's last week until the first two weeks of May.

The rain is expected to originate in South and progress to central parts before reaching the  north.

With rainfall expected to remain consistent throughout the upcoming two weeks, MET forecast it would be accompanied by gusts and rough seas.

Since the worsening weather conditions have coincided with school holidays, MET warned to practice caution during travels, especially via sea.

While the weather forecasts for the next two weeks have been issued by MET, the authority has already released a white alert.

MET issued the nationwide white alert effective from 07:00hrs on Monday morning until 12:00hrs of the same day.

The authority forecast rainfall accompanied by thunder during the alert duration.

Wind is expected to pick speeds between eight and 18 miles per hour from West-Northwest while gusts of 35 miles per hour have been expected.

Ocean swells are expected to reach between three and six feet as well.
