The elderly man, who sustained critical injuries last Friday, after getting hit by a speeding motorbike as he walked home after Tarawih prayer, is still being treated at ADK Hospital's ICU, the patient's family said.
The victim, a 67-year-old local, was hit by the speeding bike outside his home around 20:00hrs on last Friday, as he was returning from Masjid-ul-Rasheed, a three-story mosque near his residence.
The victim's son, Mohamed Saif, shared the most recent updates of his father with 'Sun' highlighting the victim sustained five-inch deep concussions on his head due to the accident's impact. Saif added his father suffered brain hemorrhage, which has since progressed towards swelling in the brain caused from blood melting.
"They are currently treating to reduce brain swelling, and if successful would significantly improve his health," Saif added.
Saif further said his father received critical injuries to his lungs leading to infection.
Meanwhlie, Maldives Police Service on the same night of the accident connfirmed to 'Sun' they arrested a 27-year-old local man in connection to the accident, but further details were not disclosed.
Despite growing number of fatal cases from accidents, the number of accidents on the road continue to spike.
