Transportation banned on Fitr-Eid

Male' City Council on Thursday announced vehicle transportation will be restricted from 16:00hrs onward on Eid-ul-Fitr day.

Male' Mayor Adam Azim, during the council's general meeting, said it decided to ban vehicle movement on the afternoon of Eid to execute the festivities planned by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.

Despite a council member's request to shorten the vehicle-ban duration, it was not approved. 

All forms of vehicle transportation will be banned in Male' City from 16:00hrs until 18:00hrs, the council said, which it approved with eight votes out of the 11 members in the authority.
