President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, accusing the former government of neglecting Hulhumale’ Phase II, states his administration will develop stops facilities in the suburb at the earliest.
Nishreena Moosa, a resident of Hiyaa tower, raised concern over the lack of sporting facilities in Hulhumale’ Phase II on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries and concerns from the President.
“There is no facility where women can play sports [In Phase II],” she said.
Responding to Nishreena, President Muizzu said a number of facilities required for Hulhumale’ Phase II since the suburb was populated have not been established to date.

However, the President said his administration will further develop Phase II. In this trajectory, he said efforts will soon be commenced via Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to develop sports courts, parks and recreational spaces in the suburb.
“The current administration will establish sporting facilities in collaboration with HDC and other parties very soon,” he stressed, adding arrangements for women to play sports will be established once these facilities are developed.
Hulhumale’ Phase II and the suburb’s first housing project, Hiyaa towers, were developed during PPM’s first administration. Although a huge population now resides in the suburb, many basic necessities needed are still unavailable.
