President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promised to reclaim land to the maximum possible capacity from Vaavu atoll Felidhoo, aligned with the island's land use plan.

While speaking at the rally in Vaavu atoll Felidhoo, Dr. Muizzu vowed the reclamation project will proceed. He said the state budget allocation for the project was insignificant.

"Regardless, this is a pledge I made. Land reclamation is crucial for the island to resolve its most concerning issue, and I will prioritize fulfilling the promises, and I promise we will reclaim land to the maximum possible capacity as per the land use plan," President said.

Dr. Muizzu said the relevant ministry and the council will expedite the efforts to launch the urban development projects by contracting developers.

Felidhoo, with a rough population of 700, is the capital of Vaavu atoll, and consists of 15 hectares of land area, making it the largest island in the atoll.
