Island Aviation Service has announced the national airline, Maldivian, is set to begin direct flights between Hanimaadhoo International Airport and Trivandrum, India.
In a statement, Island Aviation said the direct flights will commence from April 12, 2024 onward, with the aim of increasing the national airline's international routes.
Island Aviation also highlights the direct flights will enhance connectivity for locals, especially those seeking medical services from India. The new route will also benefit locals seeking to holiday or visit for business in India.
Customers can now book for tickets online or from ticket centers.
The flights are scheduled on Fridays and Mondays each week. Maldivian will be using its Dash-8 aircraft for the route.
Maldivian previously operated between Hanimaadhoo and Trivandrum, which it ceased for Hanimaadhoo airport's expansion and development.
