Four people have been arrested for reportedly threatening police officers near H11 tower in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
Police said a speeding motorcycle in Hulhumale’ Phase I refused to stop at the instruction of police officers and proceeded to Phase I at approximately 1:20pm on February 11th.
They detailed that the motorcycle in question was later stopped near H11 tower in Phase II, where officers attempted to detain the driver. However, the Police said the driver obstructed the officers from fulfilling their duties in a manner that jeopardized public order and also threatened the officers at the scene and their families.
As per the Police – four arrests have been made in connection to the case under court orders on separate days. The suspects were identified as two 21-year-olds, a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old.
The Police reported that the 26-year-old was arrested from L. Gan. When presented before Gan Magistrate Court for a remand hearing – the suspect was released on bail, for a period of 30 days, subject to not leaving place of residence, upon presenting a surety.
Meanwhile, the two 21-year-olds and the 24-year-old was arrested on Tuesday. When presented before Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court for a remand hearing – one of the 21-year-old was remanded in custody for two days. The other 21-year-old and the 24-year-old were remanded in custody for 10 days.
Police said the case is under further investigation.
