Criminal Court had remanded two individuals arrested for violence using a sharp-edged weapon in a home invasion in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation into the case.
The suspects in the case have been identified as a 20-year-old man and a 47-year-old man.
As per the court, although it is unclear whether the 47-year-old man assaulted anyone, he is suspected of entering the home in question alongside a group of people without permission and encouraging violence.
The victim in the case has sustained physical injuries according to the court order which read the two suspects were remanded in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation as sufficient evidence has been submitted under the Act Prohibition Possession of Dangerous Weapons. Evidence submitted in this regard included witness testimonies, snapshots of CCTV footage and photos of injuries sustained by the victim.
Both suspects have criminal records – most which pertain to violence.
It was also noted in the court order that there were witnesses to the incident. Thereby, the court stressed the possibility of the suspects influencing the witnesses if they are released.
Hence, the court stressed that both suspects have been remanded in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation for the safety and security of the public.
