Maldives breaks single-day arrivals record with 8,900 visitors; MATATO congratulates tourism minister

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) congratulated Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal on Thursday, after the country broke the record for single-day tourist arrivals with 8,900 visitors.

MATATO’s CEO Aminath Suzan and President Abdulla Ghiyas visited Faisal at his office on Thursday, to congratulate him on the achievement.

In a post on X, MATATO applauded all partners, stakeholders, airlines, and dedicated tourism industry personnel across the Maldives “who tirelessly contributed to making this achievement possible.”

“This momentous occasion marks a historic triumph, and we eagerly anticipate surpassing more milestones and elevating the tourism sector to unprecedented levels of success,” added the association.

Information released by the Tourism Ministry shows 8,900 tourists visited the Maldives on February 3.

China is back on top as the biggest source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with 28,304 visitors. In second place is Italy with 23,749 visitors, followed by Russia with 21,399 visitors.
