MATATO partners with Hotel Jen to host first-ever all-women Maldives Travel Conference

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), in partnership with Hotel Jen Male’, is set to the first-ever all-women Maldives Travel Conference next month.

The Maldives Travel Conference 2024 – Women’s Edition was announced on Thursday.

The landmark event, which will take place on August 19 at Hotel Jen Male', is dedicated exclusively to women in the tourism industry.

According to MATATO, this year’s conference aims to spotlight the crucial issues affecting women in tourism, particularly those in leadership roles.

With a focus on fostering equality and addressing industry challenges, the event will feature two panels comprised entirely of women speakers. The topics of discussion will be:

• Women in Management – Addressing the Gender Disparity
• Women in Tourism – Combating Societal Stigma

According to MATATO, the conference seeks to raise awareness about the obstacles women face in the tourism sector and to explore strategies for creating a supportive and equitable environment.

“By promoting open dialogue and sharing insights, the event aims to pave the way for greater opportunities and retention for women in tourism,” said the association, in a statement announcing the event.
