President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says he assumed office to realize the empty promises former administrations made to sway voters.

Addressing a gathering in Th. Kandoodhoo on Wednesday, President Muizzu said that former administrations showed the people a lot of dreams – but failed to deliver.

He said that most such promises were made in conjunction with elections.

“We are here to deliver all this and run these projects. In Sha Allah,” he said.

President Muizzu said that he would give special priority to finishing the stalled water and sanitation project in Kandoodhoo.

He said that the reason for so many stalled projects is reckless spending by companies, leaving them millions in debt.

President Muizzu – who is currently on a three-day tour of Th. Atoll – promised to put the region back on the “radar.”

“The main assurance I want to give is that I will bring an end to this atoll getting so far behind and so outside of the radar for so long,” he said.

President Muizzu said he doesn’t see appeals from people as complaints, and provided assurance he will listen to the people.
