MACL urges to pay attention for possible disruptions to flights

Hulhule', where Velana International Airport (VIA) is based, has also been flooded in heavy rain which Maldives is currently experiencing.

Subsequently, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operator of the airport has urged travelers to pay attention to possible disruption to flights.

MACL’s Corporation Communications Manager Shamman Shakir said flights have been delayed over low visibility due to heavy rain and other similar reasons in this trajectory.

However, he affirmed that the company was committed to minimizing the delays and providing speedy service despite the challenging weather.

Male’ and Hulhumale’ have also been flooded in the uninterrupted heavy rain.

Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) has attributed the bad weather spell to a low-pressure area formed over the Arabian Sea.
