Transfer of Male’ municipal services to city council begins

President’s Office announced on Tuesday that it has commenced the process of transferring all municipal services in the Maldivian capital to the Male’ City Council.

Once the necessary changes are complete, the city council will be responsible for providing all municipal services in Male' City, Hulhumale', and Villimale'.

Currently, Urbanco is mandated to provide the majority of municipal services offered in phases one and two of Hulhumale’.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had expressed concern over this back when he served as Male’ City Mayor.

The transfer of all municipal services to the city council had been one of his electoral pledges – something which he promised to deliver on within the first 100 days in office.
