Tholal appointed as Sports Commissioner

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Mohamed Tholal, the former president of Athletics Association, as the Sports Commissioner.

He was presented with his letter of appointment in a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday.

The appointment was made at ministerial level.

Tholal had reportedly resigned as president of the Athletics Association earlier on Tuesday, ahead of his appointments as Sports Commissioner.

Tholal said been involved in the establishment of the Athletics Association, and in designing its training programs. He had served as the association’s president since 2012.

He also previously served as the Secretary General of PPM, and as Deputy Home Minister during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.
