Man arrested with drugs released by court

A Maldivian man arrested last night during a counter-narcotics operation by the police in Male’ City has been granted conditional release by the Criminal Court.

Police, briefing the media, identified the suspect as the 32-year-old Maldivian man.

Police said they discovered three joins stuffed with substances suspected to be drugs and a piece of cellophane packed with substances suspected to be drugs when they searched his home under a court order.

When he presented before the court for a remand hearing, the court released him, subject to unspecified conditions.

Police said the case is under further investigation.
