Two arrested from Hanimaadhoo in drug-related case

Maldives Police Service states they have arrested two individuals from HDh. Hanimaadhoo on suspicions of selling drugs.

Police said an operation was carried out in Hanimaadhoo on Tuesday after receiving a tip informing them of sale of drugs on the island.

They identified the suspects arrested in the case as a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old.

Police said 67 packets pieces of paper containing substances suspected to be drugs were discovered during their operation.

Hanimaadhoo Magistrate Court has remanded both suspects in police custody; the 28-year-old suspect for 15 days and the 36-year-old suspect for 10 days.

The case is under further investigation by Hanimaadhoo Police Station.
