President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says he has not instructed the halt of any ongoing project anywhere in the Maldives.

He made the remark in a post on X on Wednesday.

In his post, Muizzu rejected allegations that projects were being halted and machineries being taken out of some of the islands at his instructions.

He called such allegations “baseless.”

“I have not instructed for any ongoing project in any island to be stopped or suspended,” he said, adding that he wanted to reassure the Maldivian people of that.

Muizzu had sent a letter to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on October 5, requesting a cease in certain types of works during the transitional period, including new projects and new hirings.

But he did not ask for a halt to ongoing projects.

President Solih had said he would honor Muizzu’s request.
