The president and the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan has congratulated the Maldivian President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on his election victory.
Both the president and the prime minister congratulated Muizzu via Twitter.
Pakistan President Dr. Arif Alvi, in a congratulatory Tweet on Monday, expressed hope for Pakistan-Maldives relations to be further strengthened under Muizzu’s leadership.
“I congratulate President-Elect Mohamed Muizzu over his victory in the Presidential elections in Maldives. I hope that relations between the two brotherly countries would be further strengthened under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu,” he wrote.

Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar conveyed congratulations to Muizzu on his victory in a Tweet on Sunday, adding he looks forward to working alongside Muizzu to further strengthen Pakistan-Maldives ties and regional cooperation.

Muizzu, from the opposition PPM-PNC coalition, won the presidential election runoff held on Saturday with 54 percent of votes, beating MDP’s Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the incumbent president, who won 46 percent.
Leaders of foreign nations have extended congratulations to Muizzu on his win.
