Muizzu: Will initiate action against acts of corruption within administration

The opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says he will take the prerogative to take action against government officials within his administration at the earliest hint of an act of corruption.

In a campaign rally in L. Gan on Monday night, Muizzu promised he would stand true to his words, and realize the pledges he has made.

“The team I pick for this will be one that serves the people as I want with the utmost sincerity. The picks for the cabinet will, In Sha Allah, be individuals who the people can be proud of,” he said.

Muizzu promised that his cabinet would be composed of people who are clean of corruption, educated, and capable, and who have the courage to work speedily, around the clock.

He said that he wishes to serve the people with sincerity and dedication, and to produce results, from day one.

“We will not allow any act of corruption within our administration. If we notice any such individual, I will personally take the prerogative to take action against them,” he said.

Muizzu promised complete transparency, which he said was crucial to national stability.

“There will be nothing to hide in any government office. I will not allow for journalists or for the people to have to push for access to information,” he said.

Muizzu said that each and every member of his team would be held accountable, and promised checks and balances.

He also promised to free independent institutions and the judiciary in the truest term.

“There will be nothing to hide in an administration we establish. Everything will be there for everyone to see. There will be complete transparency. We will not do anything that we cannot be accountable for, or are don’t know how to be accountable for,” he said.

A number of people joined PPM during Monday’s rally, including Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj, and L. Atoll Council’s president Ismail Ali.
